Walt Disney World Resort has over 25 Resorts to choose from, how do you decide which one is right for your family? The first question is what is most important to you and your family? That will help narrow down the options.  All resorts have a theme, which theme best suites you? Some have more dining options than others, there are different methods of transportation to the theme parks (water taxi, bus, monorail, skyliner) at each resort, proximity to the theme parks, and budget are all important factors in choosing a resort.

Disney Resorts have four categories, Value, Moderate Deluxe and Villas. Here you can read about the different categories and all the resorts have to offer: https://www.disneytravelcenter.com/MIN-000000000024222/sites++walt-disney-world++places-to-stay++places-to-stay/

Things to Consider

Are you traveling with little ones? Maybe a resort with close proximity to the theme parks you will visit the most or a method of transportation that will be easier with a stroller, a room at any of the resorts on the monorail with easy access to Magic Kingdom and EPCOT. If transportation is not a concern how about a place where you can see animals from your balcony in a Savannah View Room at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge.

If you are going to experience one of the festivals at EPCOT or can’t wait to live out your Star Wars dreams at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, staying at Disney’s Yacht or Beach Club or Disney’s Boardwalk Inn is a great choice as it can be walking distance to EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. (There is also a water taxi if you prefer not to walk)

If you have a larger party and you all want to stay together, Disney has you covered, there are 3 bedroom villas at select resorts that sleep up to 12, Treehouses at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa that sleep 9, Cabins at Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and Bungalows at Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows.

A quieter option, a more secluded resort, a place to relax …Disney’s Wilderness Lodge or Disney’s Old Key West are good options.

A nice resort while staying within your budget, any of the moderates are a good choice. The Cabin’s at Ft. Wilderness are a fun place to stay especially during Halloween season and the Holidays with so many of the campsites decorated. Disney’s Coronado Springs gives you a moderate price point with some deluxe amenities.

In most cases with the value and moderate resorts the rooms are the same but the views are different. In the deluxe and villas, this is where you will have options of 1, 2 and 3 bedrooms. The earlier you book your vacation the better chance you will have in getting the room category you want.

Dining

You do not have to stay at a Disney Resort to be able to dine there. Having options at your resort is an added benefit. Do you have picky eaters? Maybe some that don’t want to sit long for a meal? A food court with a variety of options to choose from is available at many resorts. From breakfast with Mickey and his pals to dinner with Snow White or a fine dining experience for you and someone special, Disney Resorts have it all. In my opinion some of the best meals on property can be found at a Disney Resort.

For me, where you stay while on your Disney vacation is just as important as making those highly sought after dining reservations and deciding which attraction to rope drop! Disney resorts are so much more then a place to sleep, they can be there own vacation destination.

So many times you will hear people say they need a vacation after they have returned home from their Walt Disney World vacation. We all want to do all the things while we are visiting the mouse but it is a great idea to include some time for rest, relaxation and pool time. Choosing the resort that is the best fit for your family is the first step in planning your magical vacation.
